Construction Underwriter job in San Francisco, Los Angeles

Our client is actively seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to join their Middle Market Construction team as an AVP, Underwriter. This position will be based in San Francisco, with consideration for candidates in Los Angeles. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in expanding their market presence, primarily focusing on Casualty (Auto, GL, WC) and Excess insurance, with potential expansion into Property and Inland Marine in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Business Development: Concentrate on pure production, with a primary focus on acquiring new business within the Northern California territory. While the main target is San Francisco, the role also involves expanding into Arizona and Nevada.
• Client Portfolio: Manage a diverse portfolio of accounts ranging from $250k to $1.5M in premium, all guaranteed cost.
• Hybrid Work Model: Work in a hybrid environment, with two days in the office per week (Tuesday plus one). Traveling to meet brokers is considered part of the office days.
• Training and Experience: While a dedicated background in Construction is preferred, our client is open to candidates who have relevant experience and exposure to Construction within their roles. However, they cannot accommodate training from the ground up in the construction industry.
• Reporting Structure: Report directly to their Head of Middle Market Construction, who oversees the entire country.
• Career Advancement: The position is posted as an AVP role, but our client is open to hiring a less experienced candidate who demonstrates the potential to grow into a Senior level role. The goal is to promote individuals from AVP to VP Team Leader within a specified timeline.
