Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Level Underwriter to spearhead the development of the Midwest region for the Management Liability Department. In this role, you will underwrite Management Liability and Commercial Crime business for the Chicago area, aligning with the department's strategic objectives. Additionally, you will cultivate and manage broker relationships through exceptional customer service and targeted marketing efforts, collaborating closely with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.

Location: Chicago area, with remote/hybrid capabilities but must be accessible to Chicago area brokers

Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary underwriting contact for the Midwest Region within the Management Liability department, devising distribution and marketing strategies for the region.
  • Meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals as determined by the department.
  • Cultivate and manage broker relationships through ongoing customer service and marketing initiatives.
  • Exercise independent decision-making within underwriting authority and maintain comprehensive file documentation.
  • Articulate the department’s value proposition and maintain a thorough understanding of all department products and services.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance knowledge base and skills. May engage in departmental projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental objectives and explore cross-sell opportunities within the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Requirements

  • Desired experience with Chicago Territory/Broker Relationships in both retail and wholesale settings.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7+ years of underwriting experience.
  • Strong underwriting expertise in Private Company D&O, Public Company D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Side A DIC for commercial business.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and analytical skills to pursue new business opportunities and manage a renewal book effectively.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Proficient in relevant software necessary for success in the department.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Holds or is pursuing underwriting and industry designations relevant to the area of specialization.
