About the Role
Growing tech-enabled specialty Commercial P&C insurance company seeking experienced product management professional who is comfortable operating independently and in an entrepreneurial environment. As a Small Commercial Lines Excess & Surplus Underwriter you will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of small commercial accounts in the Excess & Surplus lines market segment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and underwrite small commercial insurance submissions in the Excess & Surplus lines market segment, assessing risk characteristics, exposures, and coverage needs to determine acceptability and pricing
  • Analyze policy applications, loss history, financial statements, and other relevant data to evaluate risk quality, identify potential hazards, and make informed underwriting decisions
  • Develop and propose appropriate pricing strategies and terms for small commercial insurance policies, balancing profitability objectives with competitive market conditions and client needs

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience in the Excess & Surplus lines market segment, preferably focused on small commercial accounts
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles
  • Demonstrated proficiency in risk assessment, pricing analysis, and underwriting decision-making
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation, Benefits, & Perks
$80k to $90k, bonus, equity, unlimited PTO

Salary:  $80,000 - $110,000
Bonus/Benefits:  $80k to $90k
