If you’ve landed an interview for an insurance job, congratulations! This is an up-and-coming industry, and the job market is plentiful. Not to mention, many insurance industry positions allow the capability to work from home, which is important in our current health crisis. So to help yourself impress your interviewer and get the job, it helps to be prepared.
Insurance interview tips
To get ready for your interview, follow these insurance interview tips to do your very best:
- Understand the company you’ve applied to. There are different types of insurance: auto, property, casualty, health, and homeowners, to name a few. Do some research and check out the company to which you’ve applied. What do they do, what makes them different from their competitors, and what is their mission statement? It’s important to arm yourself with this information.
- Find your interviewer on LinkedIn. One of the best ways to ace your interview is to establish rapport with your interviewer. The company wants to hire someone likable who will get along with coworkers. If you can chat easily with your interviewer, this may increase your chances of getting hired. Visit their LinkedIn profile and look for anything you may have in common. This will give you something to bring up in conversation.
- Know why you’re a good hiring choice. Based on your skills and experience, what makes you a good fit for the job? Review the job description and think about what might make you uniquely qualified? You can talk about this during your interview, and reiterate it in your thank you note.
- Prepare insurance interview questions. Do a little research online and prepare your insurance interview answers to common questions. Having responses up your sleeve can help you relax and remain confident under pressure.
