Captive Accounting Manager/Tax Lead - Tax & Reporting

URGENT
Consulting firm located in Phoenix, AZ (Central & Thomas Road - downtown) will hire an experienced P&C insurance accounting and tax lead. The role will be as a Tax Reviewer and will sign the returns after being processed and put together by the Tax Accountants. Firm has a backlog at the Reviewer point in the process so this is an urgent need. P&C insurance carrier tax experience is a plus, but firm will consider someone without. Preference is for a CPA, but not required. Will have no direct reports, but there are opportunities for advancement. No travel unless to industry events and meetings.
• Prepares quarterly and annual statements on a statutory basis (and a GAAP basis, as needed)
• Prepares insurance company tax returns and other compliance
• Maintains accounting records and
• Prepares adjusting journal entries to post to the general ledger and reconciles general ledger
• Utilizes and develops a basic understanding of our in‐house software, as well as QuickBooks.
• Works with confidential client
• Meets productivity and efficiency standards (billable hours).

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (graduate degree or CPA preferred, but not required) and 1‐plus years of accounting or tax experience (experience with insurance accounting preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of SAP, GAAP and IRS tax code/regulations
• Excellent human relations and communication skills (both oral and written).
• Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi‐task within restricted time constraints
• Advanced knowledge of Excel

Position is bonus eligible (discretionary) and relocation assistance can be negotiated at offer.
