 Insurance Carrier COO, Senior Underwriting Executive

Our client is a well-established and growing casualty and construction underwriting group and is seeking a Senior Executive to be responsible for both underwriting and operations. The position will act as COO in the casualty and construction arena and encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including underwriting, marketing, comparative analysis of competitor offerings, working with the various state regulatory departments, and managing an underwriting team. This individual must be a high-level influencer in the marketplace with 10+ years’ experience in carrier underwriting, along with brokerage and risk management. Candidate must have coverage knowledge in casualty, general liability and workers comp geared toward the construction silo and related insurance covers (including builders risk, wrap-ups, OCIPs, etc.) Candidate must also have the ability to negotiate and place reinsurance contracts, and a working knowledge of competitor contracts, I.E., Lloyds of London. Qualified candidates should have a working knowledge of all 50 states and be conversant with underwriting systems and procedures. This role will supervise all staff activities to ensure compliance with state regulations, prepare and implement underwriting procedures and guidelines, and review risk exposure for profitability. Degree and licenses are expected. Advanced degree, CPCU, CIC, etc. are preferred.  Compensation base is commensurate with experience , plus bonuses and commissions.
