Financial Controller - South Texas
Are you seeking to advance your career and open to working in a highly entrepreneurial organization? Our client is seeking a Property and Casualty Insurance Controller who enjoys the challenges which come with an organization which has seen up to middle double digit growth over the past few years. This is an important position due to the projected growth of the company over the next 5 years and will involve merger and acquisition and multiple company responsibility. This role is special due to the culture of the team in place and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train and develop a team of accountants at the senior and staff levels
  • Manage the general ledger, prepare financial statements, investigate actual to expected results, and establish policy and procedure over general accounting activities and implement best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting
  • CPA is required
  • 5 - 10 years of experience with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience supervising accounting staff in the preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and other financial information
  • Has knowledge and experience with SOX transactions, documentation, monitoring and internal control compliance
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, able to work and interact well with others, able to develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Exhibits leadership skills, able to motivate co-workers to achieve goals and objectives, and able to foster high morale.
