Publicly traded, global insurance group seeks a Vice President of Investment Operations and Reporting. In this role, which has recently moved from Bermuda to the NYC Metro area, you’ll be responsible for supporting the Group Chief Investment Officer (based in the same office) as well as the Regional Chief Investment Officers for their growing $10BB+ investment portfolio. You’ll have the support of 1 person reporting to you with an eye towards growing out the team.

 

The client is a well-known, fast growing global insurance group with major hubs in the US, Bermuda, London, Europe and Asia. Compensation is open but gravitating up the $150,000 range on the fixed plus bonus. All, in the role is expected to be in the $175,000 - $190,000 range the first year. A fuller job description is below:

 

Scope:

The primary function of the Vice President of Investment Operations and Reporting is to support the Group Chief Investment Officer and Regional Chief Investment Officers by overseeing investment operations and reporting. The function can be categorized into the following areas: reporting, budgeting, compliance, technology management, performance measurement, custody account management and controls oversight. Key partners will include Investment Accounting, Enterprise Risk Management and Treasury Operations.

  • Portfolio Cash Management – Regularly report daily portfolio cash and assist CIOs in ensuring optimal cash positioning.
  • Data Aggregation – Utilize Clearwater accounting system and Blackrock Green package to aggregate monthly and quarterly investment data for purposes of compiling variance and other analysis for management reporting and to assist in the investment decision making process.
  • Investment Analysis - Analysis of investment results and presentation of those results to CIO team on both a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Budgeting - Preparation of the annual net investment income, total return and plan budgets.
  • Reporting - Internal management and subsidiary reporting for investment portfolios, including preparation of materials to Investment Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Compliance - Oversight of investment compliance function.
  • Technology Oversight and Design – Oversight of internal and 3rd party technology platform within the investment department, including Clearwater, Blackrock Green Package, eVestment and other e-platforms used in the initial and ongoing analysis of investments and fund managers
  • External Manager Operational Requirements – Upon close of acquisitions or in the ordinary course of strategic portfolio rebalancing, ensure execution of
  • Investment Management Agreements and other investment related documentation. Ensure execution all of the operational aspects (wires/signatures etc.) of subscriptions/redemptions/capital calls for all of the fund investments.
  • Investment Management Agreement Execution –
  • Account Management – Responsible for liaising with external banks in opening custody and other accounts for new investments.
  • Performance Measurement - Calculation of performance measurement
  • SEC Reporting – Assist Investment Accounting group with certain investments related disclosures.
  • Controls Monitoring – Documentation, implementation and sign-off of investment department key controls
  • Audit Liaison - Liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • Internal Trade Settlement – While infrequent, settlement of internal trades if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • ·7 years minimum experience in investment operations at an insurance company, bank or asset manager
  • Qualified accountant (e.g. CA, CPA) is helpful
  • In depth knowledge of an investment function particularly control environment
  • Understanding of investment regulations
  • Experience within investment companies or investment departments particularly in reporting and administrative/operations areas
  • Excellent Excel, PPT, Word and Bloomberg skills are essential
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong collaborator with other functional areas.

Bonus/Benefits:  $140,000 - $150,000 plus bonus. $175,000 - $190,000 all in
