Your role would be to provide technical expertise, review and guidance in evaluating forms, rules and rating methodology for Property, General Liability, Umbrellas, Auto, WC, and Inland Marine to assure proper compliance and coverage requirements. You would provide overview of underwriting methods and guidelines. as well as maintain referral authority for high risk underwriting exposure. Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each of the following essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Work with underwriting departments (Home Office and Region) to analyze, design, implement and/or support business applications and systems. Identify and document business problems and inefficient applications and recommend alternative solutions. Work on problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgement within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Work on special projects that are broad in scope. Analyze and develop new products, pricing, or coverages as needed. Review forms and rules updates from ISO, AAIS, and NCCI. Assist in training and providing technical support to regional underwriters. Provide advice and guidance on underwriting guidelines and acts as a Referral underwriter for high exposure risks. In addition, leads underwriting audit reviews to validate compliance. Serves as the staff liaison for the assigned line in disseminating line updates and developing staff. Serves as a staff liaison for assigned lines to intercompany product teams. Travels within the assigned territory to facilitate training of Underwriters on coverage changes. Pursues a program of continuing education by participating in industry sponsored and company sponsored educational courses. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in insurance or related field and/or ten (10) years minimum commercial lines underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience. Required Knowledge, Skills or Abilities: Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, agents, and vendors. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, and volume. Ability to project a warm and friendly manner in all business contacts and maintain a professional relationship with fellow workers, agency contacts, and the general public.
