The Property and Casualty Insurance Research Vice President will create and update the company’s research products covering strategic and financial trends in the Property and Casualty insurance industry. Provide research and delivery support on consulting projects for clients. Develop and maintain industry contacts, represent company and present research findings at industry conferences, support asset management clients and business development initiatives. Significant Property and Casualty insurance experience required. Essential Responsibilities: • Produce 3 to 5 recurring products on a quarterly or semi-annual basis (i.e., Forecast Models and Segment Reports) and several shorter articles (1500 words) relating to research topics • Produce 2 to 3 strategic studies on industry segments or strategic issues annually, incorporating financial analysis and strategic implications of change, approximate length of 100 pages (20,000-30,000 words) • Lead research consulting opportunities that represent an extension of research to company applications • Assist in reviewing all finished products with other team members to ensure that they exhibit professional quality and are completed as scheduled • Maintain expertise on emerging trends and implications in 2 to 3 business segments of the insurance industry • Develop contacts and identify opportunities to increase exposure and sales in the financial services sector • As directed, guide support staff associates in the performance of their assignments • Participate in the development of analytical tools and technological and information resources to support insurance research • Represent the company at industry functions in speaking and panel participation roles, and give 2 to 3 topical presentations internally and at industry events Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Actuarial Science, Economics, Accounting or Finance • 10 years of experience in related field including insurance company operations, actuarial functions, consulting, strategic planning / business development or equity or credit research • Actuarial or other Insurance or Financial Services designation desirable • Ability to write major studies, mini-studies and short articles with limited supervision or guidance • Ability to read and understand insurance company statutory and GAAP financial statements and reporting principles, and an understanding of actuarial topics • Ability to read, understand and use spreadsheet applications to analyze industry and company specific data • Ability to apply expert knowledge of insurance products and to understand the role of technology, distribution, customer service, and economic drivers in shaping the business • Ability to apply strong-to-expert knowledge in several of the following areas: Loss Reserve analysis, underwriting and claims processes, insurance marketing and distribution approaches, information technologies and analytical techniques, capital markets and valuation analysis, strategic planning, market research, and competitive analysis • Ability to represent the company at industry functions including delivering formal presentations and network development • Strong writing and analytical skills - ability to synthesize, develop in depth and articulate critical conclusions from broad research and source information including insurance financial information • Commitment to continuing education, such as earning industry certifications • 10-15% travel, mainly US Our client offers a broad array of benefits, and salary package is commensurate with experience.
