Commercial Underwriting Director- Small Accounts, Multiline P / C –NY Metro area- (NJUWDir)

A global property and casualty insurance carrier is looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriting Director-Small Business for their headquarters office in the NY metro area, Bergen County, NJ. This Underwriting Director will be responsible for the underwriting results of the country, mentor the underwriting teams, handle referrals, and develop underwriting strategies for the existing and new business target segments for this high-volume commercial lines small business underwriting department. Their products include BOP, CPP, property, general liability, workers’ compensation, packages and umbrella products. You will also work closely with the  Corporate Underwriting team and lead the Field Underwriting teams on both coasts, and loss control.

The requirements are 10+ years of commercial small account P&C underwriting experience with a small/medium carrier; 4+ years of underwriting leadership experience; Strong knowledge of core P&C lines-BOP, CPP, WC, GL, Property, Package and Umbrella; Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills; Must be teamwork oriented; Have producer contacts; Insurance designations are a plus; Knowledge and experience with MS Office and rating tools; and a bachelor’s degree required. The salary is commensurate with experience (mid-upper $100K) and great paid benefits.
