Position will underwrite group dental, life, STD/LTD, and voluntary products (critical illness, etc.). Deliver quality financial analysis for new and/or renewal business, e.g. calculations, manual review, funding evaluations, benefit quotations, and risk review. Perform accurate financial analysis; analyze inputs/outputs for reasonability, manual and payable rates, individual applicant recordsPerform risk management functions; e.g. claim determination, profitability analysis. Determine pricing of new and/or renewal business, e.g. alternate plan of benefits. Make financial recommendations on plan designs and pricing alternatives.

Applies thorough understanding of the company’s products/services, financial practices and policies and legal guidelines. Exhibit expertise in product and functional support areas Access resources effectively as needed Understand and applies technical underwriting concepts

Maintain open positive communication with underwriting management and sales offices regarding proposals, renewals, product changes, market concerns, etc and elevate information as needed.Cultivate critical relationships, e.g. with customers, consultants, internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

Expertise in technical underwriting.Command of Underwriting tools and systems including CPS - ability to manage business processes including continuous process improvements.Very strong technical skills.Ability to access resources effectively across the business.Ability to utilize contacts in key areas to tackle cross-functional issues, influence decisions, and exchange critical information.Strong analytical skills and ability to apply them to complex cases and issues.Superb negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Ability to express ideas and explain concepts clearly, concisely, and convincingly using both written and verbal communication.Strong presentation skills.
