Manager, Underwriting Services (1203) job in Albany

Our client is seeking a Manager, Underwriting Services.  Primary responsibilities for this role include:

·         Coaching and mentoring a team of 9 underwriters

·         Training new underwriters on underwriting/pricing/risk selection fundamentals.

·         Actively monitoring territory growth, retention and profitability goals, and developing plans to execute on goals, engaging team underwriters, agents, and agency managers.

·         Monitoring and managing daily underwriter assignments and maintain balanced workflow to ensure underwriters are meeting service expectations

·         Administering and monitoring underwriting authority for their team

·         Administering and managing team's Quality Assurance Program, including completing monthly file reviews.

·         Researching and drafting responses to Department of Insurance inquiries on individual policy actions.

Ideal candidates will exhibits numerous leadership traits and possess:

• At least 7 years of insurance industry experience, with a minimum of 3 years as an underwriter, preferred
• Prior supervisory experience
• Bachelors/Associates degree, preferred
• INS, AU or CPCU (or the willingness and drive to pursue such designations)
