Chief Life Underwriter Manager opening in Upstate New York for growing, successful Life Insurance company. Serve as the Chief Underwriter for the Individual Underwriting and *New Business Departments and is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, operations and large case underwriting. Ideal candidate has 15+ years of individual life insurance, medical and financial underwriting experience with expertise in underwriting complex, multi-million dollar risks. Market /Field experience required. Peripheral knowledge of chronic illness and disability risk assessment a plus; 5-10 years of management experience in life underwriting and new business functions; knowledge of product lines and sales techniques currently offered in the marketplace; expert knowledge of underwriting and new business workflow; knowledge of federal and state mandated underwriting and new business requirements; in depth knowledge of reinsurance practices and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with reinsurers; strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and develop staff and assigned teams.
