The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the Operations staff and the financial processing of member account transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manages the day to day Operations of the teams, which include In-force operations, Billing and Collections, and the Distributions (life benefits payments) group ( 15 staff).

• Responsible for ensuring timely execution of policy statements, policy changes, including policy assignments, DSPs, RPUs, LTC elections, etc.

• Oversee member requests for payment, including but not limited to terminations, loans, overpayments/refunds, partial and total withdrawals, SPIA payments, etc.; and ensure the distribution is accurate and posted correctly to the policy administration system(s)

• Responsible for the 1099 tax process, including but not limited to the research/reconciliation, reporting and preparing of all tax forms as may be required, as well as coordination and integration with vendors

• Coordinate and process annual term dividend refunds through policy administration system, including all necessary corresponding reports

• Manage processes and postings of daily billing; review receipts of premiums or other payments (i.e., via allotment, EFT, credit card, check, Checkfree, etc.) for accuracy and quality assurance

• Understand the Association’s strategic goals, objectives, and operations; in an effort to identify opportunities and solutions to meet current and future business needs

• Gather information, use metrics or other forms of measurement to analyze data and trends; identify root cause issues, develop business requirements, process workflows and/or automation options, etc.; and make recommendations for system and process enhancements

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, and at least 5-7 years of operations management experience, preferably in a life insurance or financial services environment. Must have experience and demonstrated knowledge of accounting concepts, practices and procedures. Knowledge of accounting systems and customer account administration systems is essential. Must be able to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks, in a high-pressure environment with great attention to detail. Must be able to work in a highly collaborative environment, participate in team-based planning processes, and have a demonstrated ability to follow through with responsibilities. Must have strong organizational skills and possess sound leadership and training skills. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected, so sound judgment, critical thinking, and strong decision making abilities are a must. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, including the ability to train new team members. Proficiency in Microsoft products, specifically Excel and Word is a must.

Salary:  $80,000 - $110,000
